How to Have A Cosy Roof Conservatory
Having a great conservatory with a cosy roof is exactly what is required; it’s the ideal space to enjoy some time with your family and friends, an area of your home that you can dedicate entirely to all the seasons. You can eat there, party there, open gifts there, play games there – and it means the rest of your home is mess and fuss-free as a bonus.
If your conservatory isn’t exactly a cosy place to be, you’ll need to make some changes. Here are some ideas for you.
During winter the days tend to be dark and dreary, and even if they are sunny there isn’t much daylight since the sun rises later and sets so much earlier. This means that you need to install some ambient lighting in your conservatory to make it a place you want to spend time in. Using dimmer switches and floor lamps will help you to create the cosy atmosphere you are looking for. Make sure the bulbs are a yellow colour rather than blue or white too. You might even want to have some candles in the room, especially if you are dining in there. Just make sure you take care when using them, and they can really add some cosy light to your conservatory.
Colour plays a big part in making a room cosy. Although in the summer you’ll want to keep things light and neutral, in the winter you’ll want to add some darker colours, perhaps even natural wood. For December red and green with a hint of gold always makes the place feel fully festive.
Make Sure It’s Warm
Heating your conservatory to a good level is hugely important. If it’s too cold, no one will want to spend any time in there, and all your hard work when it comes to decorating and making sure it looks beautiful will be for nothing. If you have radiators installed of course you can use them – otherwise you may have to bring in some electric heaters for warmth. However, doing this without ensuring that you have a roof that will keep that heat in is a waste of time and money. Fix the roof first (we can help with that) and then you can have a comfortable, usable conservatory.
Bring In A Rug
It’s likely you won’t have carpeting in your conservatory, and although wooden or even tiled floors look fabulous, they’re not so nice on chilly feet during the winter. Bring in a rug and it will make all the difference. If you have one in another part of the house that you can use you don’t even have to spend any additional money on it either.
